Description:
Turnabout consists of six rectangles of sheet aluminum. The largest
rectangle (10" x 16" is stationary, mounted on your wall,
with a small, nearly silent 110 AC gearmotor behind. Five additional
rectanglesthe smallest 4" x 10"are mounted in
front of the largest, one pivoted on the next, powered by belts and
pulleys so that each rotates at a different speed, producing a leisurely
ever-changing arrangement of rectangles which repeats itself only once
in 19 years.
The
whole array projects 4" from the wall. The maximum diameter reached
by the outermost rectangle is 28.05". Weight is 2.5 pounds. The
speed of the motor is slow enough so that when you see an arrangement
that pleases you, you may stop the motor at that point to preserve it.
